John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he Gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
God has given us the greatest gift of all and his name is “Jesus.” In him and his name there is peace, joy, deliverance, hope, power, healing, rest; there is nothing lacking in Jesus. As we prepare for this holiday season, I would like to ask you a question that pertains to this verse. God “gave” us Jesus, and so I ask you “what are you going to “give” this holiday season? God has blessed you and your family in so many wonderful ways this year that it’s time to lay aside your desires and bless someone else.
God is a God who gives and we, being his children, should take on that same trait. There will be many people who won’t have the opportunities that you have this holiday season, so why not be a blessing to them? Now, in doing this, it does not grant you access to heaven. In Ephesians 2:8-9, it says “for by grace are ye saved, through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.”
So your works can’t buy you a ticket to heaven, if you do this, do it because you are a child of God, and because you love Jesus — it’s as simple as that. Do this from the sincerity of your heart, and mean it. There could be people that you work with that are in need, it could be people you know in your church that are standing in need of a blessing from God that could come from you.
Jesus is the reason for the season, and you know he has been good towards you even when you did not deserve it. He blessed you in a way that blew your mind. Without Jesus there would be no “CHRIST”MAS so make him the center of this season and do as he did and give!
