Clinton’s JV Lady Horses improved their record to 2-1 Friday afternoon with a sound thumping of Wallace-Rose Hill. Final score was 43-17.

“The girls played with a lot of hustle and a lot of heart,” stressed JV coach Regina Parker. “I was very proud of the way they played.”

Parker said she was seeing improvement in her girls each time they were on the court.

“Our shots are falling as much as we’d like, but they played some good offense … they continue to improve.”

Clinton went into the Bulldog country determined to have a good showing and did just that, getting an early first quarter lead and hanging onto it throughout. The JV girls were up 10-6 at the end of the first quarter and took a 21-7 lead into the half.

Then, in the third period, they caught fire, ahead 34-11 by the end of the frame.

Leading scorers for Clinton were Zoey Harris with 9 points; Brielle Mitchell, 9; Jasmine Fryar, 6; Yasmine Williams, 6; Jacklyn Parker, 6; Chyna Killett 2; Ashley Dixon, 2; Brittany Simmons, 2; and Talaya Butler, 1.

Clinton travels to Lakewood Monday afternoon for a game against the JV Lady Leopards.
