NEW BERN — Mrs.Eva Josephine Butler Daniel, 75, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012. She was born on Oct. 18, 1937, the eldest of three children of the Honorable Algernon Lee Butler and Josephine Broadwell Butler of Clinton. She attended Salem College, in Winston-Salem, where she met her soul mate and future husband for over 50 years, Louis Broaddus Daniel Jr., MD of New Bern. They moved to Connecticut where her first son was born, Louis B. Daniel III, PhD. After her husband finished his orthopedic fellowship, they moved to Pinehurst, where she lived for about 40 years. Her family grew with the birth of two more sons, A. L. Butler Daniel, JD of Wrightsville Beach, and Christian P. Daniel, MD of Wilmington.

Ms. Eva lived her life as a devoted wife and mother always putting her husband and her children first in everything she did. The legacy of her family was her proudest accomplishment. She lived a selfless life receiving the most happiness and joy by doing for others and doing so with great pleasure.

She is survived by her husband; three sons; three grandsons; and two granddaughters; and her two younger brothers.

There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Pollock-Best Chapel.
