Gift given to SCC Foundation Lyman Horne, general manager of Star Communication presents Lisa Turlington of the Sampson Community College Foundation with a $5000 check from CoBank. As a longtime supporter of the Foundation, Horne requested a matching gift from the 'Sharing Success' program of CoBank to support the scholarship funds at the SCC. Star Communication is an important partner of the college and will host the Annual Phonathon on Feb. 19, Turlington said. Additionally, Star was a sponsor of the Sampson Classic Golf Tournament. As vice president of the Foundation Board of Directors and chairman of the Annual Giving Committee, Horne encourages others to join the college community, 'At the end of the day, we all want our community to be a better place to live, work and raise our families,' he said.
