The Lady JV Leopards penned up the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs on Tuesday, getting the road win 60-14.
Lakewood went on an 11point scoring spree in the first quarter, and then managed to put up 19 points to Wallace’s 6 before intermission. The score at the half was 32-8. The Lady Bulldogs couldn’t find the basket in the third quarter, while the Leopards moved the score up to 46-8.
“We started out playing raggedly, but it got better. Our pressure bothered them a lot. We were able to run our offense and got a lot of fast breaks. I’m really pleased with the win, but this is JV, though, and they’ve still got a lot to learn,” Lakewood girls head coach Lofton Kerr said as he got ready to sit on the bench with the varsity girls. Leading all scorers, and putting in more baskets than the entire Wallace team, was Leopard Brianna Evans with 16 points. Following close behind was Justina Henry, with 13 points; Jada Moore (varsity player Brianna Moore’s sister), 8 points; Alexis Williams, 7; Jasmine Williams, 6; Chanel McClennon, 4; and Bianca Boone, 4 points.
The Leopards travel to Trask on Thursday.
