The Lakewood varsity girls brought down Wallace-Rose Hill by almost tripling their score, 75-26, in their first conference match of the season.

The Leopards started off hot, ending the first quarter up 16-2, and they never cooled down. By halftime, Lakewood was up 36-12 and ended the third quarter with a score of 54-15.

Lakewood girls’ head coach Lofton Kerr was pleased with the way his girls played. “We started out good and were able to jump on them right from the first. I think our half-court trap bothered them,” he explained.

“We were playing a little too fast at first, but the girls were able to settle down and managed to take control of the game. Wallace was aggressive, but we were able to handle it. Everyone got to play and that’s a good thing,” he added.

Leading all scorers was Leopard Brittney Boykin with 16 points. Other top scorers for the Leopards were Tasha Rich, 12; Bianca Moore and Teisha Rich, each with 10 points; Rashyda Parker, 7; Kiera Rich, 7; Jache’ Servance, 5; Jakyra Jackson, 4; Swazay Marable, 3 points.

Lakewood has extended their winning streak to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference. The Leopards travel to Trask on Thursday.
