A sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol may have solved at least one storage building break-in near Roseboro earlier this week when he took two suspects into custody.

The suspects — Michael Murray Pope, 22, of 208 East Williams St., Autryville, and Robert Martin Jordan, 22, of 6628 Lina Drive, Stedman — are now facing three felony counts tied to that break-in.

According to sheriff’s reports, filed Thursday, Jan. 3, a deputy patrolling the Roseboro area Sunday morning observed a Chevrolet Blazer leaving a mini-storage complex at 601 E. Hwy. 24, around 3 a.m.

Knowing that there had been several break-ins of storage units at the facility in the past few weeks, the deputy, reports note, followed the vehicle and eventually stopped it because of several traffic violations.

As the deputy was talking with the driver, he noticed a shotgun and what appeared to be a pistol between the two occupants of the vehicle.

At that time, he called for back-up and asked the two suspects to get out of the car.

After further investigation, it was determined that a storage unit at the 601 Hwy. 24 location had been broken into.

Pope and Jordan were taken into custody at that time and charged with removing two shotguns, an air pistol and various other items from the unit.

The two were charged with one count each of felony breaking and entering, felony attempted breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering.

Both were placed under $25,000 bonds
