Unlike their varsity counterparts, the Croatan Cougars proved too much for the Clinton JV girls Wednesday afternoon, as they fell 48-29.

Coach Regina Parker said the team’s play was “sloppy” for the better part of the first half, and the shots being made weren’t falling.

Clinton trailed 15-3 after the first quarter and 23-6 at the half.

“We played much better the second half,” Parker stressed, “but it was impossible to recover from the first half.”

Scoring for the JV girls in Wedneday’s game were Brielle Mitchell with 9 points; Jacklyn Parker, 9; Zoey Harris, 6; Chelsea Underwood, 2; Jasine Fryar, 2; and Talaya Butler, 2.

Clinton’s JV returns to the court Friday for another conference game, this one against Swansboro.
