The Hobbton Middle Wildcats took two from visiting Union Middle Thursday night. The Hobbton girls squeaked by with a 24-20 win. The boys’ game was a run-away,with Hobbton winning 45-21.

Hobbton Middle coach Parenza Best said, “Union played very hard. They are well coached. They are going to win some games. We were lucky to come out of here alive. We play tough defense. I have to give the credit to the girls, they played hard.”

Union coach Garrett Bass said, “My girls played with a lot of heart tonight. We still have a lot of improvement to do. But, we are on the right path. We’ve got to keep improving our defense and get some shots to fall and we will be alright.”

Nina Devone led the scoring with 19 of Hobbton’s 24 points. For Union, Tanaziah Chestnutt had 15.

In the boys’ game, Hobbton had a balanced scoring attack. Omar Farrior had 11, Raquan Bryant had 8, and Calaeb Robinson and Jason Scrivner had 7 each.

Wildcat coach Temple Jackson said, “I though our team played excellent defense tonight. That was the key to game. I’m proud of everyone on my team because everyone that went in put everything they had on the floor. I appreciate the support of the parents because it has really made a difference in the way the kids are playing.”

Union coach Myron Bass said, “Too many horses. They were just up and down, up and down. I think they wanted it. They out hustled us and they can get up.They made some outside shots. When they weren’t making outside shots, they go stick backs on offensive rebounds. We just weren’t up to it.”

Hobbton travels to Midway Middle Monday while Union hosts Roseboro-Salemburg.
