James Marshburn, 75

WALLACE — Mr. James Monroe Marshburn, 75, left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at First Baptist Church of Wallace conducted by Dr. Alan Thompson and Dr. Dennis Bazemore. Burial followed in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 28, 1937 in Bladen County, the son of the late Samuel Alexander Marshburn Sr. and Clayton Lee Marshburn Allen of Tomahawk. He was also predeceased by his sister, Emmalene Morgan and brothers, Alton Marshburn, Samuel Marshburn, Jr. and Milton Marshburn.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Sue Blackburn Marshburn of Wallace; three loving daughters, Karen M. Knowles (Jimmy) of Teachey, Alesia Faye M. Gurganus (Cecil) of Norwood, Lori M. Bryant (Darrell) of Boiling Spring Lakes; grandchildren, Graham Knowles, Rena K. Baker (Adam), Kayla B. Sears (Josh), Dustin Gurganus, Carly Bryant and Donovan Gurganus; sisters, Elma Bradley of McLeansville and Betsy Carter of Garland; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.
