Midway’s middle school Raiders got the Thursday afternoon win over Union Middle, defeating the young Spartans 37-25.

Midway took an early first quarter lead at 11-4 and never looked back. They led at the half 22-13 and by third quarter’s end they were up 29-16.

“I thought we played better Thursday,” said Midway coach Josh Bullard. “We were more balanced and we did a better job on defense. We’ve still got room to improve, but I was pleased with their effort.

Leading scorers for Midway were Michael Kramer with 12 points; Reece Wilson, 7; Austin Smith, 7; and Greg Orr, 4.

The win moves Midway’s record to 3-5 overall. Their next game is Thursday versus undefeated Sampson.

Union’s stats were not provided.
