Myrtis J. Alderman
CLINTON — Mrs. Myrtis Johnson Alderman, 95, of 8055 Boykin Bridge Road, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Powell and the Rev. W. H. Calcutt officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
Mrs. Alderman, a native of Sampson County, was the widow of James “J.B.” Alderman and the daughter of the lade Hardy Corriher Johnson and Lossie Jackson Johnson. She was a member of the Eastern Star, N.C. Teachers Association and ECU Alumni. She was the oldest living member of Harmony Baptist Church, a member of the Women’s Missionary Union and a former Sunday school teacher. She retired from the Clinton City Schools after teaching for 35 years. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph D. Johnson and a sister, Erline Johnson Larkins.
She is survived by a son, Ronnie Alderman and wife, Patricia of Clinton; four loving grandsons, Cory Alderman and wife, Joy of Clinton, Blake Alderman and wife, Leslie of Faison, Blair Alderman and wife, Karen of Clinton and Eric Alderman and special friend, Kelly Glass of Shallotte; two precious great-grandchildren, Larkyn Vann Alderman and AnnaLee Taylor Alderman; and numerous nephews and nieces; friends and a very special caregivers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m. at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
