Kaylan Dean Sinclair, a sophomore at Hobbton High School, has been recognized as a distinguished finalist in the 18th annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. The awards program represents the United States’ largest youth recognition program based solely on volunteer service.

Nearly 5,000 nominees were reviewed by an independent judging panel and Sinclair was among the six chosen based on criteria including personal initiative, effort, impact and personal growth.

She has raised more than $11,000 to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and The Heart of Christmas Show for children in need. She also helped to raise money for “Charlie’s Door” which is a non-profit organization founded by Charlie Knowles of Clinton that supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Sinclair, who has created a platform called “Find Your V.O.I.C.E. – Volunteer Opportunities in Communities Everywhere,” has used her singing talent to raise funds, and hopes to encourage others to use their unique talents to help others in need.

She is the daughter of Dewain and Karen Sinclair of Clinton.
