Clinton’s No. 1 ranked Lady Dark Horses are looking for a big game Friday night, not only because they are taking on rival East Duplin but for an even more important reason — raising money and awareness for cancer research.
Head coach Chris Owens is encouraging everyone to come out for the big game, supporting his girls and their attempts to, in turn, support the Kay Yow Foundation in their now annual Pink Game. And he hopes they’ll all be decked out in pink, just like the Lady Horses.
“We hope to see a sea of pink in our gym Friday night,” Owens stressed.
Like other high schools across the county and the state, Clinton will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Yow Foundation. And, they’ll also pay tribute to cancer survivors during halftime of the varsity boys game.
“It’ll be a special time, and we urge anyone who is a survivor to come out and be recognized. We are paying a special tribute to them even as we are raising money for a great cause,” Owens said.
Clinton, now ranked 15-4 overall and 9-1 in the conference is one game up on all their 2A opponents with high hopes of getting yet another W during the Pink Game.
“This is going to be a big game for us in so many ways,” the coach stressed. “It’s a big conference game but, just as importantly, it’s a game where we can give back. We always have a lot of support from parents and fans, I hope we will have even more for this very special game,” Owens said.
