Wednesday, Feb. 13, was a day filled with love at Harrells Christian Academy.

“Wear Love” was a day set aside to celebrate with special activities involving acts of love. First of all, the entire student body was asked to come to school dressed in red or pink. They were also asked to refrain from saying any negative or hurtful words all day, being mindful of everything that came out of their mouths.

“Wear Love Day” was kicked off with a chapel service in the auditorium. Next, all members of the HCA family stood together, dressed in their pink and red, in the shape of a gigantic heart, for a “family” picture. Following the picture was the highlight of the day — the valentine exchange.

In the weeks prior to this special day, different grade levels were paired with one another and made valentines to exchange. For example, the 12th-graders made valentines for the third-graders and vice versa; so, during the valentine exchange, students spent time exchanging with and talking to their valentine. All age groups thoroughly enjoyed this part of the day.

High school senior Whaley Casteen shared, “I’m so glad we had the opportunity to spend time with the third graders. It was a lot of fun getting to know them better, and they acted like they loved spending time with us seniors too.”

You could definitely see and hear the love that filled the HCA campus that day. Students are already asking if “Wear Love” day can be an annual event, and because of its huge success, more than likely, it will.
