On March 15-17, The Kappa Rho Chapter of Omega Psi,representing Duplin, Sampson and Bladen counties, along with Phi Lambda Lambda of Onslow County, will serve as host for the 6th District Council Meeting of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
The Sixth District of the fraternity consist of chapters from North and South Carolina with over 300 members expected to be in attendance. On Saturday afternoon, a quiz bowl will be held consisting of teams from North Carolina at the Sampson County Middle School Gym. This will be follow by a Mardis Gras Dance (Omega’s Against Domestic Violence) at the Sampson County Agri-Exposition Center from 9 p.m. until to 1 a.m. Sunday morning at the Sampson County Middle School, a Devotional Service will be performed by Pastor Dr.Ted Thomas, DDS, with music by the MLK Community Choir.
Founded November 17, 1911, on the campus of Howard University, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity has prided itself on service though uplift to perspective communities locally, nationwide and abroad through the following Internationally Mandated Programs ::

SCHOLARSHIP - promotes academic excellence among the undergraduate members. Graduate chapters provide financial assistance to student members and non-members.

SOCIAL ACTION Programs include: voter registration, Assault on Illiteracy; Habitat for Humanity; mentoring; and participation in fundraisers for charitable organizations such as domestic violence organizations, Relay for Life, health initiatives, voter registration, education and mobilization.
In addition to the above, each year the local chapter sponsors local young men to experience a boys camp held at Camp Hanes YMCA Camp in Kings, NC.
