Midway Middle’s Raider traveled to Hobbton Thursday afternoon, and handed the home team a 9-0 shutout.
“Given what little time we were given to prepare for the conference season, I think my team is slowly coming along,” said Hobbton coach Damon Burnett
“What little experience they have, they make up in effort. I am very proud of the way they kept fighting and did not quit,” Burnett added.
Midway Middle coach Wendy Williford touted the play of her girls, noting the “great defensive effort” by Sydney Richardson, Riley Kinlaw, Ruby Escandon, Camryn Page, and Leslie Lambur.
“The key to our win was our quick front line and our relentless defensive wall,” Williford stressed.
Burnett said Hobbton’s lone highlight was 8 saves from Wildcat goalkeeper Madison Warren.
Hobbton was led on defense by Destiny Horne and Lexi Mincy in the midfield. Hobbton’s next game is Monday at Sampson.
Midway’s Kasey McLamb scored 4 goals, had 7 shots on goal and 3 assists; Sabria Crowell had scored 4 goals, had 7 shots on goal and 1 assist; Dana Lee scored 1 goal; and Nadia Evans had 10 shots on goal and 4 assists
