In 2 Timothy 3:2-5 it says “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient, to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent , fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lover of pleasures more than God; (having a FORM of Godliness), but denying the power thereof; from such turn away.”
I would like to focus on the latter part of this verse where it say’s “having a form of Godliness.” We are living in a time were people are going to church on Sundays to only ease there minds. It’s not a personal relationship that they have with Jesus Christ where their lifestyle aligns with their confession. The early part of this verse, where it talks about how men will be and act in these last days, is right before our eyes. People are loving themselves more than God. Sure they say they love God, but their lifestyle says something different. This relationship we are to have with God through Jesus is more than just some Sunday morning service. It’s more than just saying “I went to church today;” it’s more than saying “I gave a couple of dollars to the church;” it’s more than having a title in the church; it’s more than a committee and a board that people are appointed to.
God is not pleased with this form of Christianity that many, and I say many, people are living in and talking in. Saints of God it’s time to start examining yourselves and asking: “do I have a personal relationship with Jesus or do I just have religion? When you have a relationship with Jesus, Sunday mornings are not enough for you — you find yourself needing him on the job, in the car, at the house, in the school house, in the hospital, each and every day 24/7. When you have a relationship with Jesus, you need more than just that than the hour or hour and a half you have on Sunday morning. He is on your mind all the time; it does not matter if you are in the valley or on the mountain top, he’s on your mind.
Some folks have not talked to God since last Sunday morning service. Is that you? Living your way Monday- Saturday and then wanting to live God’s way on Sunday is not God’s plan for our lives. It’s time to stop playing church, and get real because we serve a real God who wants to be real with you as well as reveal himself through Jesus Christ.
You can fool people, but you can’t fool God who sees your heart, and the lifestyle you have chosen to live.
This have been heavy on my heart to share with the readers of our Faith & Family because Jesus is coming, and it’s a relationship you must have with him to be accepted by him. Listen to what Jesus say’s in Matthew 7:21-23 “Not every that saith unto me Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my father which is in heaven. Many will say unto me in that day Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have chased out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you depart from me, ye that work iniquity?
