Contender! Scripture Romans 2:13 states merely listening to the word or law doesn’t make us right with God. It isobeying the law that makes us right in His sight. In my opinion this scripture points to anyone who talks the talk but does not walk the walk. In all walks of life, all different careers or all philosophical differences, there is always one who preaches one thing and then fails to act on his preaching. The teacher who doesn’t teach all her students; the lawyer who represents a client substandardly; a soldier who doesn’t keep his uniform clean; mayor who fails to represent all the citizens of the city; and finally the laborer who cuts corners on the job when it is needed to be accurate and precise. these are all signs of a contender to their craft and the word of God. A craft or profession like God’s word is to be honored not dishonored. Matthew 7:24 says anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise. My word is built on solid rock.
Pretender! Deuteronomy 6:18; do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight so all will go well with you. There are many of us who; regardless of any commitment to God or man will do whatever we deem necessary. This is the pretender because his only goal is to please his own self interests. They pretend to be committed but are only pretenders. The athlete who regularly uses illegal drugs; the politician who is corrupt; the doctor who will only treat healthy patients; the man who will not seek employment for for his own self-respect; and finally the father or mother who will not care for their children and makes any kind of excuses. Deuteronomy 11:26 states; Today i give you the choice between a blessing and a curse. You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the Lord thy God and you will be cursed if you turn away from the lord your god.
Defender! If you love me obey my commandments. John 14:15 stated. This is a true and righteous scripture which makes anyone a defender of the word of God. If you are a defender of the word of God, you are a lover and follower of my Lord and sSaviour Jesus Christ. You will have no fear. You will have no obstacle youcannot overcome. God is your shield and glory. the policeman who patrols the night streets with distinction. The preacher who relishes the word of God; the banker who accounts for every dime he is responsible for; the actor who perfects his craft perfectly; the foreman who treats his workers fairly; and finally the man who does righteous and godly things. For all of these deeds believe in the Word of God. God comforts them amid all their temptations. Phillippians 4:9 states: put into practice all you learned and received from me. Everything you heard and saw from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. The defender of God’s Word is truly his follower. John 15:10 says when you obey my commandments you remain in my love. God bless!
