MOUNT OLIVE – Mount Olive College’s Lois G. Britt Agribusiness Center, along with the USDA Risk Management Agency, NC Cooperative Extension, Duplin County Young Farmers and Ranchers and other multiple partners are preparing for a regional conference surrounding farm transition and estate planning. The conference will take place on March 7 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Raper Hall on the campus of Mount Olive College. Pre-registration is requested for this event as a meal will be served.

The United States Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency awarded Mount Olive College funding to provide educational events and workshops addressing issues related to farm transition and estate planning for landowners and farm families. Mount Olive College’s Lois G. Britt Agribusiness Center has worked with multiple counties in central and eastern North Carolina to create farm and forest protection plans which identified farm transition as a major challenge facing farm families.

Farm transition planning is a comprehensive approach to keeping farms in production as they pass from one generation to the next. Transitional planning can help to alleviate the obstacles that successors will face, while ensuring the continued financial health of a farm family and business. This conference will feature experts providing information and resources to jump-start the planning process.

Preregistration is required. A registration fee of $10 per person and $5 for each additional family member will be required. Materials and workbooks will be provided to all attendees as a tool to guide a successful farm transition and estate planning process. These events are open to all farmers, landowners and interested persons.

Please call the Mount Olive College Lois G. Britt Agribusiness Center to register for this event at 919-658-7510. Addition information can be found at www.mocagbiz.com/farmtransition.
