CLINTON — Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Batson Fields, 82, of 306 Warsaw Road, died at Southwood Nursing Center Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012.

A private graveside service will be held Friday at noon in the Clinton Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard McDuffie officiating.

Born on May 17, 1930 in Sampson County, Mrs. Fields was the daughter of the late Clarence and Nora Belle Slade Batson. She was a member of Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church and co-owner of Fields’ Clothiers.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas “Doc” Fields Sr.; one daughter, Debbie Ward and husband, Kirby of Bald Head Island; one son, Douglas Fields Jr. and wife, Lynn of Roseboro; cousin, Thomas Slade of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Tyler D. Ward and wife, Lindsey and Hannah Ward.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sybil Pittman and a niece Memory Robinson.

The family will receive friends following the service in the Banner Room at the church and other times at the home at 306 Warsaw Road.
