LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — Mrs. Lelia Ballard Miller, 87, of 4000 Davis Lane, formerly of Carolina Avenue, Clinton, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Park West Medical Center in Tennessee.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clinton, with the Rev. Dr. Rick McDuffie officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller, born in Iredell County, and was the daughter of the late James Roby Ballard and Lura Mae Kelly Ballard and was the widow of Gene D. Miller. She retired as a teacher’s aide from Clinton City School System. She was a member of the Clinton Garden Club and the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron. She was a master gardener and a long time artist. Mrs. Miller donated art work to the Sampson Health and Wellness Center.

She is survived by three children, Rev. Dr. Gene D. Miller Jr. of Fayetteville, Bill Miller and wife, Iva of Clinton, and Pam M. Deyton and husband, Dennis of Lenoir City, Tenn.; a brother, James Ballard of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, Art Miller and wife, Carrie of Shallotte, Bryan Miller and wife, Becky of Newton Grove, Edwin Deyton and wife Audrey of Knoxville, Tenn., Christie Deyton of Lenoir City, Tenn., Allyson Miller of Charlotte, Trey Miller of Raleigh, Audrey Dmello of Severn, Md. and Kristen Miller, of Fayetteville; four great-grandchildren, Kayla Miller, Greyson Miller, Sawyer Miller, and Anneyston Miller.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and other times at the home of her son, Bill Miller, 503 Beaver Dam Drive, Clinton.
