CLINTON — Mrs. Louise Elizabeth Dudley Strickland, 95, of 1288 Rabbit St., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Sampson Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Clinton with the Rev. W. H. Calcutt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Strickland, born in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Allen and Annie Herring Dudley and was the wife of the late Robert Elbert Strickland. She was a loving wife, mother and a dedicated homemaker. As a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, she served as a Bible school and a Sunday school teacher, Nursery Department director, and a member of the WMU. In 1974 she was selected as the Hickory Grove Church Mother of the Year. She will always be remembered for her hugs, kisses, and good food. Her life was devoted to her family as well as to everyone she met.

She was predeceased by a son, Larry Strickland, and eight brothers and sisters.

She is survived by four children, Judy Strickland David and husband, James of Clinton, Gerald Strickland and wife, Pam of Clinton, Dian Strickland Naylor and husband, Reuben of Roseboro, Johnsie Strickland Phillips and husband, Billy Wayne of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Jinger David, Monica Morgan, Tiffany Simmons, Nichole Holland, Gerry Strickland, Ryan Phillips, Jonathan Strickland, and Rhett Naylor; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gracie Ellis of Clinton and Virginia Christianson, of Salemburg.

The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and other times at the home.
