SALEMBURG — Mr. Leslie Martin Jerson, 69, of 301 Jackson Street, died on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at Duke Raleigh Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Salemburg Baptist Church with the Rev. John Adams and the Rev. John Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg.

Mr. Jerson was born on March 23, 1943 in Bronx, N.Y., to the late Norman and Gertrude Badin Jerson. He was a veteran of the Air Force and worked as an Industrial Technological instructor with Sampson Community College where he also had obtained an associates degree.

As well as being employed by Sampson Community College, he was a long time member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineer. He also was the owner of L.M. Stump Grinding Service. Since retirement he has been an active volunteer with the N.C. Baptist Men Disaster Relief Team and also with the Mobile Disaster Hospital Unit. He was a member and deacon at Salemburg Baptist Church where he was involved with Illuminate Youth Group.

Mr. Jerson is survived by his wife, Gail Holland Jerson of the home; two brothers, Barry Jerson of Long Island, N.Y. and Robert Jerson of Wilkesberry, Pa.; three nephews, Jeffrey Jerson, Craig Jerson and Bradley Jerson; his niece whom he dearly loved, Michelle Jerson; and cousins, Joel Vergun and Sheila Lakowitz. Leslie was also survived by his Holland brothers, Leon and wife, Diane, Ronald and wife, Carolyn and Joe and wife, Carolyn; and his sisters, Kathleen, Stella, Ann and husband, Ben, Faye and husband, Jim and Peggy and husband, Gene.

The family received friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and other times at the home.
