CLINTON — Mr. Jerry O’Neil Carter, 53, of 7699 Keener Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Bethesda Assemblies of God Church on U.S. 421 North. Clinton. with the Rev. Cecil Price officiating. Burial was to follow in Beulah Cemetery on Beulah Road.

Jerry was born in Burke County in 1959 to O’Neil Carter and Hazel Precise Tyndall, and was also a member of Bethesda Assemblies of God Church. He was preceded in death by a brother Scotty Carter and infant grandson Logan Reece. Jerry also was a proud grandfather and loved to play with his grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Shelby Jackson Carter of the home; mother, Hazel Tyndall of Clinton; father, O’Neil Carter of Clinton; daughters, Michelle Carter Reece of South Carolina and Christy C. Taylor and Casey Hobbs, both of Clinton; brothers, Gary Wayne Carter, Kevin Carter, Shannon Carter and Berry Tyndall Jr., all of Clinton; sisters, Sheila Dunn of Warsaw, Rhonda Langston of Salemburg, Sherry Hall of Clinton and Kim Cowan of Goldsboro; and six grandchildren.

The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Bethesda Assemblies of God Church and other times at the home.
