ROSEBORO — Concerns were swirling among town leadership during Tuesday’s town board meeting over potentially negative effects that could hinder projects under contract through federal funding, as grants freezes from the current administration are possible.
The discussion was when town attorney Sandy Sanderson delved into issues he had over Roseboro’s current RTG (Rural Transformation Grant) contract, which is the town is using for infrastructure projects.
His biggest worry focused on the town’s obligation to pay contractors for work intended to be covered through the RTG contract and threats of not receiving federal reimbursement due to a freeze and leading to breach of contract. His current focus was planning for “a way out,” should the worse happen.
