The Clinton Cross Country teams traveled to Wake Med Soccer Complex Saturday for the Mideast Regionals. Both men’s and women’s teams had very strong showings and both qualified to compete next Saturday in Kernersville in the NCHSAA 2A Cross Country Finals.
The women were lead by Elizabeth Coleman (20:34), who placed second overall in the 2A Mideast Regional competition. Maegan Lamb came in 16th (21:56), Jessica Parker (22:52) finished in 27th, followed by Ella Faison, 28th (23:10), and Reagan Barefoot, 34th (25:06).
The men were paced by Charles Jordan (16:48), who placed third overall, and Kade Sutton (17:17), who placed sixth overall in the 2A Mideast Regionals. They were followed by Greg Monk, (18:20) in 16th; Phillip Sneed (20:04) in 35th, Angel Rivera in (20:19) 38th, Ty Randleman (22:21) in 62nd and Robert Smith (22:26) in 64th.
Following the meet, Head Coach Rhonda Davis and assistant coach Erasmo Ordonez gave praise to their teams.
“We are pleased with the progress both teams have made through the season and it has culmunated in qualifying for the state finals,” said Davis. “Both teams enjoy going to Kernersville and participating in a meet with such good runners from across the state.”
